Organised Chaos Pinot Gris 2020 - 6 pack

Tasting Notes: Off dry, with lots of stonefruit, citrus, and fresh Turkish Delight. Fine, refreshing acidity and loads of texture - this is the perfect summer time Gris.

Vintage2020 ended up being a superb vintage. A perfect flowering was followed by prolonged wet and humid period through the later parts of December and most of January. From late January, however, unusually hot (38oC plus in the vineyard) and dry weather persisted well into autumn and continued into winter. This made for an excellent harvest period and fruit was able to be picked when it was physiologically ripe without sugars getting too high and allowing alcohols to be kept down.

Clone: Ovaille

Picking: Hand-picked and whole bunch pressed on the 26th of March 2020.

Vineyard: Our Pinot Gris is grown by Phillip Barber in the Esk Valley. Esk Valley enjoys a maritime influence where the hot dry summer days experience a cooling sea breeze in the late afternoon. The soils are deep alluvial river sands and stone, left behind by the Esk River. Phillip farms his land with the upmost respect for everything above and below the ground. The vines are dry farmed with no herbicides used in the vineyard, and he is currently working towards organic registration.

Winemaking: Fermented with 58W3 yeast, the highly aromatic 2020 was fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. 5 months of batonage, before being bottled, unfined.
